Hello from Rich Burroughs

Rhode Island winter

Hello,

If you see this, you previously subscribed to my newsletter hosted on Ghost, which I set up when Elon purchased Twitter. I was concerned about staying in touch with folks, as Twitter was a central part of communicating with the communities I was in. I published a few issues of the newsletter, and then, in typical ADHD fashion, I forgot it existed.

There was recently more discussion on Bluesky about how problematic Substack is, and I saw Beehiiv mentioned in those conversations. I looked at it and it seems like a fun platform, so I’m giving the newsletter thing another shot. I exported the list of my Ghost subscribers and imported them into Beehiiv, which is why you’re getting this message.

What you can expect from the newsletter is probably similar to what you may remember from my posts on Ghost. I’m currently working on a post about Flox, a tool for managing development environments. There will also be updates about my Kubernetes podcast, Kube Cuddle, discussions of other things happening in tech, ADHD, and more random topics like soccer and popular culture. I know that developing a following is easier with a more narrow focus, but I don’t want to be stuck only talking about computers.

No hard feelings if you don’t want to come along for the ride, but I will hopefully have some fun things to share with the folks who stick around.

In the meantime, you can find me on Bluesky and LinkedIn.

Happy holidays!

Rich

P.S. My big personal news is that I’ve relocated from Portland, Oregon, to Rhode Island, where I’m closer to family. The image above is of the first snowfall since I’ve arrived.
